Victoria Legal Aid Handbook for Lawyers

Dependants help

The application form asks you to disclose the details of a ‘Dependant’.

General principles

A ‘dependant’ is defined as a person who relies on the applicant for financial support, including a spouse, partner or children.

You should firstly complete the name, date of birth and the first dependant’s relationship to you. If there are more dependants, select ‘Add more dependants’, and repeat the process

Important

Do not provide (in the dependants’ section) the particulars of any person who has already been classified as a 'financially associated person' (FAP) in the previous question. If you count a person twice, inaccurate means test details may be calculated by ATLAS.
